Burnout Is Also a Software Architecture Problem
On building enterprise systems: human debt, ratio-based recognition fairness, and why delivery metrics belong in the same conversation as human impact.
Read it at HackerNoon ↗What it argues
- Human debt is the side spreadsheets and tribal knowledge people build around systems that do not serve them.
- Recognition systems that ignore opportunity measure scheduling luck and call it merit.
- Delivery metrics describe how fast a team moves; they say nothing about what the team absorbed to move that fast.
Why I wrote it
Friction never disappears. When a stack is fragmented, the pressure simply moves to whoever has the least ability to refuse it — usually a frontline manager.
That is why I judge architecture by how much complexity it absorbs before a person ever sees a screen.
